Barth is a tenured professor in Astronomy and Physics at the University of Toronto. Over more than 20 years, Barth has been one of the foremost pioneers in the field in state-of-the-art balloon-borne and suborbital technology that has enabled significant breakthroughs in astrophysics and cosmology. With a PhD. in Physics from Princeton and deep technical experience working at Caltech, Barth has launched and flight-qualified technology and design methodologies for a wide range of space-based applications.
