Ben Boyd is a fourth-year student in Engineering Science at the University of Toronto, specializing in Aerospace Engineering with a focus in Robotics and Mechatronics. As a Mitacs intern at StarSpec Technologies, he is contributing to both software development and mechanical design across multiple projects.
Ben brings experience from over a year of research with the University of Toronto’s Balloon Astrophysics Group, where he worked on the GigaBIT telescope. His work there focused on high-precision attitude determination and control system design, as well as the mechanical development of a three-axis test platform.
On campus, Ben served as Mechanical Lead for Blue Sky Solar Racing, U of T’s solar car team. In this role, he led the design and integration of vehicle systems, managed a multidisciplinary team, and contributed to the development of a new competition vehicle.
With a passion for space systems and cross-disciplinary problem solving, Benjamin is excited to support StarSpec’s mission and gain deeper experience in the Canadian space technology industry.
